Malang, November 22, 2025 — Persada Hospital, in collaboration with Radio Kosmonita, held a Breastfeeding Week Talkshow themed “Being a Happy Breastfeeding Mom” as part of an initiative to raise public awareness of the crucial role maternal well-being plays in successful breastfeeding. The event took place on November 22, 2025, and was attended by approximately 50 participants, including breastfeeding mothers, expectant mothers, and advocates of maternal and child health.
The talkshow featured three distinguished speakers: Dr. Cicilia Asali, Sp.GK, FINEM, Clinical Nutrition Specialist; Dr. Laurentia Ima Monica, Sp.A, M.Biomed, Pediatric Specialist; and Steffani, singer and mother of twins, who shared her personal experience as a breastfeeding mother.
During her session, Dr. Cicilia Asali emphasized that breastfeeding success is not solely determined by technical factors, but is strongly influenced by a mother’s nutritional status and emotional well-being. She addressed the common misconception that breastfeeding is only about maximizing milk production, noting that such expectations often overlook the psychological burden placed on mothers. According to her, emotional support, balanced nutrition, and a positive environment are essential components in ensuring maternal happiness during breastfeeding.
Meanwhile, Dr. Laurentia Ima Monica highlighted the vital role of families, healthcare facilities, and the wider community in providing a supportive ecosystem for breastfeeding mothers. She pointed out that many mothers still face social pressure and stigma when encountering difficulties in breastfeeding—factors that can negatively impact the process. She stressed the need for comprehensive education and more mother-friendly policies to create a truly supportive environment.
The third speaker, Steffani, shared her personal journey as a mother of twins navigating both public expectations and the practical challenges of breastfeeding. Her testimony reinforced the message that maternal happiness and emotional stability are fundamental needs that often go unrecognized by those around them.
Through this talkshow, Persada Hospital and Radio Kosmonita reaffirmed their commitment to providing comprehensive education and raising community awareness that maternal well-being is the cornerstone of successful breastfeeding. The organizers hope this event will encourage the creation of a more inclusive and supportive environment for mothers, while strengthening public understanding of the collective role families and communities play in sustaining breastfeeding practices.
